Heating oil tank FAQ

Tank replacement starts from €1,400 supplied and fitted, with no fixed upper limit — the final price depends on tank size, brand, access and whether the base needs work. A drain-and-remove-only job starts at €380. We always quote in writing before any work begins.

For new domestic installations in Ireland, a bunded (double-skin) tank is required where the tank is within specific distances of a building, boundary or drain, per OFTEC guidance. In practice almost every replacement we do today is bunded — it's safer, cheaper to insure and future-proofs your home.

A typical domestic swap-out is done in a single day. That includes emptying and removing the old tank, prepping the base, siting the new tank, connecting the fill and feed lines, and testing the system. Base repairs or awkward access can push it to a day and a half.

That's usually water and sludge in the bottom of the tank feeding microbial growth. It clogs filters and damages burners. We drain the contaminated fuel, filter what's recoverable, dispose of the sludge and inspect whether the tank can be safely refilled.

Yes. We empty the residual oil, degas the tank, lift it out (crane or manual depending on access), remove associated pipework if you want, and take the tank away for recycling under proper waste transfer documentation.

Yes. Home heating kerosene is the most common in Ireland, but we also handle gasoil (red diesel / marked gas oil) and HVO-derived heating fuels where the boiler and tank are compatible.

Ring us. A live leak is an environmental incident: kerosene reaching soil or a drain triggers reporting and clean-up obligations. We can usually be on site fast, contain the spill, pump out remaining fuel and quote the replacement while there.

Yes. We're set up as a waste carrier for the old tank and any contaminated fuel or sludge, and we hand you the waste transfer documentation. No skip needed, nothing left behind.
